Pondicherry is my home town. Everytime I go there I feel more psenti about it. Its a beautiful place to re-discover with your beloved :).
We went to Repos beach late evening yesterday. I've always wanted to show her the spectacle of a moonrise in Pondicherry. I'd seen it once before in the main city beach. But what we saw yesterday was something totally blissful and mind-blowing. The full circle of the moon could be seen rising from iside the ocean. The cool breeze blowing, the height of the tides increasing and the sounds of the birds returning home :) and your beloved in your arms - the feeling was surreal !
As the orange-white ball rose higher into the sky, I was reminded of an old doubt I'd always had. Why does the Sun appear to move faster when its near the horizon? I'd asked this question long back in a Science Program called 'Turning Point'. Never really got a satisfactory answer to that question.
Anyway, coming back to the point - Pondicherry - alas - it feels like a poem everytime I visit the blessed land. I just hope it continues to stay as beautiful ...

hey pondy,
about the sun moving faster when it is rising/setting ... I think the reason is that our reference is much closer at these times. That is probably the reason why it is appears to move faster.
I think this is the same reason why the moon also appears to look real huge at times. This is also an optical illusion and nothing to do with any change of distance between moon and earth.
