That was the name of the play we watched yesterday at Rangashankara. It was directed by a junior of ours called Okri.
The story was pretty awesome. The acting was even better. The story revolves around 4 characters - one an old man who believes experience is everything; a youth who belives that zeal alone can take him far far away; a pretty young woman who is a normal woman who wants security and believes that it's determination that will take anyone somewhere! And then the common man called Samanyappa - who belives that one should work hard and not allow oneself the luxury of thinking of unnecessary things. Just eat before you sleep, sleep after you eat, get up the next morning and work and tire yourself out and just repeat the process over and over again.
Then there are 2 other characters - one is a director of the play; the other is the leader who preaches that everything's wrong with this earth and we need to transport ourselves to the moon or mars! That's where the solution lies.
The story progresses act by act - the first in which the inside of the characters is revealed; the second one in which the outside occupational life of the characters is enacted. Then the final act with a lot complicated dialogues such as "Let the living live and dead die!". And "in the kingdom of the dead, the alive person is called a ghost".
I haven't fully analysed the impact and meaning of the play. But the performances were superlative! I think the general conclusion is that just live your life the way you want to. Don't over philosophize.
Rangashankara is doing a great job in the theater scene in Bangalore.
